Tasty Pet Treats For Every Day or Season

  • For Dogs: In moderation, your dog can enjoy and benefit from a variety of treats and fruits being incorporated into their diet!
    • Frozen Blueberry Treats: Blueberries are great for dogs. They are low-calorie and contain antioxidants, fiber, and vitamins C and K, all of which support your dog’s immune system. Consider blending and freezing some blueberries with yogurt for an easy homemade treat!
    • Watermelon: Watermelon can be a hydrating and scrumptious treat for your dog, especially during summer. Be careful to remove any seeds and do not feed your dog the rind.
    • Greenies: These popular green treats are the perfect way to spoil your dog, while keeping their teeth healthy year round!
    • Sardines: This canned fish is actually full of essential protein and healthy Omega-3 fatty acids, as well as vitamins B3, B12, and D. Since these treats are particularly salty, we recommend rinsing the fish off before giving it to your pup to enjoy!
    • Pumpkin: You may not have known that pumpkin is delectable to dogs, and also has tons of vitamins and fiber that will help their digestive tract! Clean, cooked, unseasoned pumpkin is a wonderful addition to your pup’s meals.
  • For Cats: This list of treats will keep your cats feeling fine! Cats also love to play, so why not incorporate their treats into their playtime with an interactive treat puzzle?
    • Salmon: It’s no wonder you see it as a common ingredient in many popular cat foods. Salmon contains omega-3 fatty acids, B vitamins, which cats need, but be sure to serve it in moderation.
    • Churu: Many cats like these lickable cat treats! They come in a variety of flavors, so your cat also has plenty to choose from!
    • Greenies: Just like with dogs, greenies are a great treat choice for cats, reducing tartar buildup and freshening their breath.
    • Catnip: A popular and fun treat for cats, catnip will be sure to make your cats happy! Sprinkle some over a new bed or toy to capture their interest.
    • Greenies Pill Pockets: These handy treats are great for giving your cats medication secretly. The soft pockets fold over so that the medicine can be completely covered!

Tips For Safely Pampering Your Pet

  • Check Ingredients: Whenever purchasing a new treat, be sure to check the ingredients before feeding it to your pet. Not all treats are made with the optimal ingredients for your pet in mind. You also want to make sure that you feed your pet the correct serving size. We know your pet deserves to be spoiled, but too many treats can make them sick!
  • Ask Your Vet: Since there are many new treats on the market, it is always wise to check with our team at Caudle Vet Clinic to make sure that introducing a new treat or feeding strategy into your pet’s diet makes sense for their overall health.
  • Consider Your Pets Medical History: If your pet has certain allergies, health conditions, or sensitivities, it is important to check the ingredients in the treats you choose to give them, and again, check with us if you have any questions!

Our staff at Caudle Vet Clinic are committed to keeping your pets healthy and happy. We know that treats are a big part of this! Be sure to check with your vet about pet safety when giving your pets treats or new foods. We can be contacted at (615) 227-6230 or on our website for guidance!
